Berhampur: Ganjam Collector Vijay Amrit Kulange on Monday asked all officers of the School and Mass Education department of the district to ready the school infrastructure.
“We would open the schools, including Odisha Adarsh Vidyalayas (OAV), immediately after getting the go-ahead from the state government,” he said.
He asked the officers through video conference to clean the campuses, take up plantation, repair electrical appliances and add a fresh coat of paint if needed.
The schools in Ganjam district have remained closed due to the pandemic situation since March 17. Many of them were converted into temporary health centres and COVID care hospitals for smooth management when Ganjam had turned a COVID hotspot. With the situation having improved considerably in the district, these facilities have already been closed.

“None of the teachers is allowed to leave the headquarters during puja vacation and they would manage the show and mask is compulsory for everyone,” he said.
Kulange asked them to make the school look better and more attractive for the students who have not attended school for the last seven months.
He also asked the officers to ensure good approach road to each school. “We can include those without a proper road in the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NAREGA) scheme,” he added.
