Balangir: A college girl committed suicide by consuming poison after being allegedly raped by a teacher on the pretext of marriage here on Saturday. The accused allegedly betrayed the girl and posted her obscene photos and videos on social media that went viral.
According to a police complaint lodged by the deceased’s mother, accused Ganesh Selma from Muribahal area had raped the victim after kidnapping her in February. The accused had also reportedly promised to marry the girl, but later betrayed and got hitched to another girl.

Upset with the sequence of events, the victim took the extreme step on Saturday afternoon, alleged her mother. She was rushed to the Titlagarh Hospital, but it was too late.
Further investigation is underway.
