New Delhi: The price of jet fuel (ATF) has increased by ₹1.37 per litre from Sunday. A 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder, used by hotels and restaurants, has also become ₹10 costlier, PTI reported.
According to state-run oil marketing companies, ATF now costs ₹138.50 per litre, up from ₹137.12. This is the fourth month in a row that jet fuel prices have risen, mainly because of higher global prices.
Last month, on October 1, jet fuel had become costlier by ₹16 per litre. Before that, prices rose by ₹6.28 in September and ₹5 in August. Fuel is a big expense for airlines—up to 40% of their costs—so this increase may make air travel costlier for them.
Commercial LPG now costs ₹2,820 for a 19-kg cylinder. Its price has risen for the second month in a row. In October, it went up by ₹62.50, and in September by ₹9.50.
Earlier, prices had come down in July and August after reaching a record high in June. Between February and June, commercial LPG prices had increased by ₹1,373 per cylinder.
The new prices depend on global fuel rates and the value of the rupee against the US dollar. Fuel prices are revised on the first day of every month and can be different in each state because of local taxes.
Household LPG prices have not changed. A 14.2-kg cylinder still costs ₹942. Petrol and diesel prices have also remained the same.
