Commissionerate Police Seizes Brown Sugar Worth Rs 40 Lakhs From Bhubaneswar Outskirts; Three Held

Bhubaneswar : The Commissionerate Police has continued its anti-addiction drive in twin cities of Odisha and seized 400 gram of brown sugar on Saturday from Balianta region, estimated to be worth of Rs. 40 lakhs.

The police has held three accused from Jaleswar-Balasore region; identified as Shiekh Munna, Aftar Hussain and Ismail Khan. One bike and another scooty has been seized from the accused.

Commisioner Soumendra Priyadarshi, speaking to mediapersons about the drive has said that, this anti-addiction drive was conducted by the name of White Spider, to control the spread of drug in the society ahead of this festive season.

In the last 14 days, drugs estimated to be 750 grams were seized and 16 cases were registered, arresting 32 drug peddlers involved in the drug business, said commissioner Priyadarshi.

The commisioner has expressed his appeal to individuals to cooperate with police on this mission and help create a drug-free society.

It may be noted that in the year 2021, Commisionerate police has seized brown sugar estimated to be 12 kgs in the twin cities.
