Complaint To ED: Actress-MP Nusrat Jahan ‘Involved In Financial Fraud’
Kolkata: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has received a complaint against actress-turned-politician Nusrat Jahan of being associated with a shady financial entity.
West Bengal BJP leader Shankudeb Panda lodged the complaint against the Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha MP at ED’s Salt Lake office here on Monday.
Panda has alleged that a construction company named Seven Sense Infrastructure Private Limited, of which Nusrat is one of the directors, took around Rs 5.6 lakh each from over 400 people, promising them residential flats at reasonable rates within four years.
But almost nine years have passed, and the investors have still not received their flats yet, alleged Panda, who was accompanied by some of the duped persons.
The complaint further stated that Nusrat and the other directors of the company used the investors’ money to construct their own flats.
“This is a clear case of financial scam. A case was filed earlier in the court in the matter. The court even asked the Trinamool Congress MP to be present, which she defied. So we are compelled to approach the ED in the matter,” Panda said.
Nusrat, who won the Lok Sabha election in 2019 from Basirhat constituency in North 24 Parganas district, is not new to controversy.
In 2012, she was alleged to have given shelter to Kader Khan, prime accused of the infamous Park Street gang-rape of an Anglo-Indian woman. The victim died in March 2015, but Kader is still absconding.
In 2020, Nusrat again made headlines over her marriage with businessman Nikhil Jain. After Jain said that he was not the father of the child Nusrat was carrying, the actress stated that she was not in a ‘marriage’, but a ‘live-in relationship’.
Nusrat gave birth to a boy in 2021, and lives with her partner and fellow-actor Yash Dasgupta.
