Berhampur: The electioneering for the ensuing panchayat polls is heating up with parties putting up banners in every nook and cranny and schools too are not spared.
A hoarding of BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inside the campus of Government Girls’ High School, Berhampur near Town police station has been opposed by the Congress.
The hoarding, written in Odia, describes children as the future of new (Nabin in Odia) Odisha. It states Naveen wants that the children of Odisha must always visualise big dreams. They must march forward with self confidence to meet every challenges of life.
Senior Congress leader Pitabas Panda who posted the pic on his twitter handle questioned what the state government and district administration intend to convey to immature minds of school children by displaying the photograph of Naveen Patnaik.
Pitabas said “Naveen Patnaik is not Mahatma Gandhi or Utkalamani Gopabandhu Das who are the milestones and symbols of self sacrifice. I don’t know what the state government and the district administration intend to convey message to the immatured minds of school children by displaying the photograph of Naveen Patnaik.”
The hoarding was partially covered by a cloth after the twitter post by Pitabas.
Meanwhile, Pitabas said he will agitate in front of the school is the hoarding is not completely removed from the high school campus.
