Bhubaneswar: Taking a dig at Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi on Sunday claimed that the very existence of the grand old party is at stake.
Speaking to the media, the Lok Sabha member said visits by top Congress leaders to Odisha would not help the party in the state as its image has been completely blurred.
“The image of Congress has been tarnished and the party’s existence is at stake. It is struggling for survival,” said Aparajita.
Stating that Congress is very much aware of its position, the parliamentarian said that the landslide victory of BJP in Assembly elections held in three states recently had left the grand old party highly demoralized.
While TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee has refused to have any truck with Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal has also made it clear that no seat adjustment will be made in Punjab, she said.
All these show that the position of Congress is very weak in INDIA bloc, she said, adding that no yatra or visit of top leaders to Odisha would enable the party to revive.
Visits by top leaders would have little impact on the people, the Lok Sabha MP said, apparently referring to the forthcoming visit of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi to Odisha.
Though Congress was once a strong political party, now its policies, leadership and intention are being questioned, the BJP leader, hitting out at the grand old party for staying away from Ram Temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya.
