Congress May Revoke Odisha MLA Md Moquim’s Suspension!
Cuttack: A day after meeting Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Sarat Pattanayak during the immersion ceremony here, Barabati-Cuttack MLA Mohammad Moquim on Thursday said that he was hopeful that the party would soon revoke his suspension.
Speaking to the media, Moquim said that it was a chance meeting with OPCC president, who was visiting Cuttack, and the two Congress leaders hugged and exchanged greetings on the occasion. “The party is accepting leaders who were suspended and expelled in different states ahead of the elections and I am expecting the same for myself. I am a grassroot leader of the Congress and have continued in the party despite my suspension. I am hopeful that the suspension would be revoked soon and I would be able contest the next elections from Barabati-Cuttack,” he added.
The state Congress or the AICC is yet to react to Moquim’s statement.
In July, the Congress had suspended Moquim and Chiranjib Biswal from the party for indulging in anti-party activities. Prior to that, they were issued showcase notices for their statements against the party affairs and organisation at an event held in Bhubaneswar ahead of the Jharsuguda Assembly by-election. The two senior leaders were also not included in the list of star campaigners of Congress for Jharsuguda Assembly bypoll.
