New Delhi: To boost the morale of the party leaders and workers, Congress president Rahul Gandhi will visit Odisha very soon.
This was revealed during a meeting between the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik with Gandhi at his official residence at Tughlaq Road in New Delhi on Saturday.
Patnaik was accompanied by the AICC secretary and Odisha in-charge Jitendra Singh, three AICC secretaries of state in charge of Odisha, Rudra Raju, Sk Mastan Ali and Anil Choudhury, Joint Secretary in charge of Odisha Aditya Sharma and three PCC working presidents Chiranjib Biswal, Naba Kumar Das and Pradip Majhi.
In the meeting, Patnaik apprised his party supremo of various organisational activities taken by him after taking charge as the PCC president and the future course of action to be taken in the coming days.
“The meeting had a detailed discussion on the strengthening of the party base at the grassroots level and the strategy for the forthcoming elections in the state,” Patnaik told media persons after the meeting.
PCC working president Chiranjib Biswal said efforts are on to induct experienced leaders in the PCC who will work in coordination with the party workers at the grassroots level to strengthen the party base in the state.
AICC secretary and Odisha in-charge Jitendra Prasad Singh said the PCC will induct more young leaders as working presidents. “The party has decided to give more opportunity to the youths,” he added.
Singh also informed that the party supremo has decided to visit Odisha to boost the morale of the leaders and workers of the state. “The date of the visit of Gandhi will be finalised very soon,” he added.
The AICC president later announced the name of the DCC presidents as recommended by the PCC president. Sources in the party said the AICC would announce the name of the PCC office-bearers very soon.
