Bhubaneswar: The Congress on Tuesday demanded a special session of the Odisha Assembly on the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.
In a letter to Speaker Surama Padhy, Leader of the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) Rama Chandra Kadam urged for an urgent session to allow the members to express condolences, stand in solidarity with the bereaved families, and send a strong message against terrorism.
He further stated that the death of a tourist from Odisha had made the tragedy even more personal for the state.
“In this grave moment, we urge that a special session of the Legislative Assembly be convened at the earliest. This will allow all members to express their condolences, stand in unity with the victims and their families, and demonstrate that our fight against terrorism knows no political divisions. We request your immediate consideration,” the CLP wrote.
On April 28, Jammu and Kashmir had held a special one-day Assembly session in response to the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam.
