Contact Tracing Of Delta Plus-Recovered Patient Underway In Odisha’s Deogarh

Bhubaneswar: A 60-year-old man of Barkote block in Deogarh district, who was infected with the new Delta Plus variant of coronavirus, has recovered in home isolation.

Director Medical Education and Training (DMET) CBK Mohanty told mediapersons on Monday that the man, who had contracted the new variant in April, had taken the first dose of Covishield vaccine on March 30 which helped him recover within four weeks.

He said that investigation is underway to ascertain whether the persons who had come in contact with the recovered patient have contracted the new variant.

“The daily COVID caseload in Bargarh district in the last 24 hours is 5984 which is the lowest among the districts while test positivity rate (TPR) in Deogarh district as of today is 1.16. Considering the declining trend in the district, it cannot be said whether the patient has infected other persons,” Mohanty said.

Talking about this case, Director, Public Health Niranjan Mishra said that since the infected patient has not gone outside Deogarh district, it can be said that the Delta Plus variant is a local infection.
