Mumbai: After being called out for confining a donkey in the ‘Bigg Boss’ house, the makers of the biggest reality show have released contestant number 19, Gadhraj, in the middle of the season.
“We are pleased to inform you that the Bigg Boss team has updated us with the news that they have released the donkey. This success is a direct result of the collective efforts of everyone who supported and joined this cause. Thank you for standing with us and for showing that compassion and action can make a real difference,” People For Animals (PFA) shared the news on its social media handles.
The PFA team members thanked their chairperson Maneka Gandhi for her intervention in the matter.
“Thanks to Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, Chairperson, People For Animals, for her intervention in this matter. This success was made possible through the collective efforts of everyone in the community who stood up for the donkey’s release,” wrote PFA.

On receiving several complaints from animal lovers, PETA wrote to host Salman Khan, requesting him to take the initiative to get the animal out of ‘Bigg Boss’ house.
Here’s what PETA wrote: “Bigg Boss is light-hearted entertainment, but the use of animals on a show set is no laughing matter. As prey animals, donkeys are naturally nervous. They, and other animals, would find the lights, sounds and clamour that is standard on all show sets confusing and frightening. That a show set is no place for an animal is obvious to viewers who are saddened to see the donkey kept in a small, confined space standing in waste.”
Salman-hosted Bigg Boss 18 started airing from October 6. Among contestants are famous personalities like Vivian Dsena, Chaahat Pandey, Shehzada Dhami, Avinash Mishra, Chum Darang, Shilpa Shirodkar, Karanveer Mehra.
