Controversy: Cows Do More Good Than Kerala Govt, Says BJP Leader
Thiruvananthapuram: The Animal Welfare Board of India’s appeal to celebrate Cow Hug Day on February 14 has evoked mixed responses, including a flood of funny posts and memes on social media.
Kerala BJP president K Surendran waded into the controversy on Thursday by welcoming the announcement and saying that cows do more good to people in the state than the Pinarayi Vijayan-helmed Left government.
Surendran accused the Kerala government of destroying agriculture sector, and said cows help people earn an income.
Cows, he claimed, contribute more to Kerala than the state’s ministers.
On why Cow Hug Day should be celebrated on Valentine’s Day, Surendran said: “You can celebrate love on Valentine’s Day. Nobody complained about it. The only instruction was to meet and respect cows.”
The Animal Welfare Board issued an appeal on Wednesday to celebrate February 14 by hugging cows as it would bring emotional richness and collective happiness.
