Jaipur: Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot announced a reshuffle in his state cabinet recently. One of the new inductees was Rajendra Gudda.
Within days of taking charge as minister of state for Panchayati Raj, Gudda has got embroiled in a controversy.
During his maiden visit to his constituency as a minister, Gudda Raj drew a parallel between the construction of roads and Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif’s cheeks.
A video clip has gone viral in which Gudda is heard telling the audience, “We will make roads like Katrina Kaif’s cheeks” when asked about construction of roads in his constituency.
He was initially a bit confused about the actress’ name, calling her Kate Kaif. He was then corrected by the audience.
The incident, which took place during an event at Paonkh village, drew laughs from the local people, but not many found it funny.
Gudda’s ‘sexist’ remark has drawn flak from several quarters, including netizens. There has been no reaction from the Rajasthan government so far.
Gudda, an MLA from Udaipurwati constituency, had defected from BSP to Congress in 2019.
