Cop Caught Taking Bribe In Odisha’s Khurda

Khurda: Vigilance sleuths arrested an assistant sub inspector (ASI) while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 in Khurda district on Thursday.

The accused, Ashok Kumar Panda, is posted at Dhalapathar police outpost near Begunia.

The ASI was arrested following a complaint by one Ashish Kumar Panda of Sana Nayapalli village near Bolagarh in the district.

According to the complainant, the ASI had demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000 for not arresting him and his brother in a land dispute case. Later, Ashish agreed to give Rs 20,000 to the ASI.

Following Ashish’s complaint, Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and caught Panda red-handed while accepting the money. A case was registered against him in this regard.

The sleuths also raided Panda’s house at Mangarajpur village near Banpur in Khurda district.
