Bhubaneswar: Police will tighten security at the Bali Jatra venue on the banks of Kuakhai river on the city outskirts this year. It will be held from November 12 to 20.
Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi said six watchtowers will be erected on the fair ground. Besides, more than 35 CCTV cameras and LED displays will be installed to keep an eye on the crowd, he said.
An ODRAF team, fire safety personnel and volunteers will be deployed, the commissioner said after chairing a security review meeting for Bali Jatra here on Thursday.
Sarangi said an information centre, health centre, police and administration offices will also be opened for the convenience of visitors.
According to sources, more emphasis will be given to parking places, cleanliness and sanitation this time.
Drinking water facility will be available at the fair and the stretch from Mancheswar Gada to Bali Jatra ground will be decorated with colourful lights, the sources said.
