Bhopal: The investigation into the death of former model-actor Twisha Sharma intensified on Saturday after her husband, Samarth Singh, was taken into custody on Friday in connection with the alleged dowry death case. Police said Singh was taken into custody from Jabalpur and brought to Bhopal, where authorities are expected to seek a seven-day remand for questioning.

Twisha Sharma, 33, was found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12, less than six months after her marriage. While her in-laws have claimed she was struggling with drug addiction, her family has alleged she was harassed for dowry and that pressure and influence were used to suppress the investigation.

Second autopsy ordered

The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Friday ordered a second post-mortem “to clear all doubts” surrounding the death, reported The Hindu. The court directed AIIMS Delhi to constitute an expert forensic team to conduct the autopsy at AIIMS Bhopal. Twisha’s father has sought videography of the procedure, alleging attempts by the accused to influence the probe.

The state government has also recommended a CBI investigation into the case following mounting criticism of the initial police probe. Twisha’s family welcomed the decision.

New CCTV footage of salon appears

A CCTV footage of late model Twisha Sharma has emerged from her salon visit before her death, reported NDTV.

Sharma visited the salon on May 12, hours before she was found hanging at her in-laws’ house in Bhopal. At the salon, the video shows her getting a head massage and pedicure, the report claims. She left aroun A CCTV footage of late model Twisha Sharma has emerged from her salon visit before her death, in a sensational development in a case that involves allegations of dowry and mental harassment.

Sharma visited the salon around 3:12 pm on May 12, hours before she was found hanging at her in-laws’ house in Bhopal. At the salon, the video shows her getting a head massage and pedicure. She left after nearly three hours. The owner of the salon, claimed the report, said that her mother-in-law had sought details about her visit and the footage a day after her death.

Meanwhile, the High Court issued notice to former judge Giribala Singh, Twisha’s mother-in-law, on petitions seeking cancellation of her anticipatory bail. Police said three notices had been sent to her for recording her statement, though her lawyer denied receiving them.

Bhopal Police also said action would be taken against anyone found sheltering or assisting Samarth Singh while he was allegedly evading arrest. Officials clarified that Singh was arrested by police and had not voluntarily surrendered, countering claims made earlier by his legal team.

In another development, the Bar Council of India suspended Samarth Singh’s licence to practise law with immediate effect due to the seriousness of the allegations against him.
