Puri: The threat of coronavirus has forced the Puri district administration to inspect vehicles and passengers at Pipili entry point.
Puri Collector Balwant Singh said a joint team, comprising officers of road transport, police and health departments, will conduct the inspections and, if necessary, returned back vehicles and passengers to prevent posdible spread of the deadly COVID-19.
“There is no need to panic, but we need to be careful to effectively fight this challenge,” he said in a video released to the media.
Singh, who had on Saturday appealed people not to visit Puri district unless there is some urgent work, informed that congregations and gatherings on the sea beach will also not be allowed. He appreciated the public for its support and cooperation to take on the coronavirus menace and advised residents of Puri not to venture out of the district unless it is necessary. “Stay indoors as much as you can,” he appealed to the public.
