Corona Update: India’s Tally Crosses 70000-Mark, Death Toll At 2,293
New Delhi: The country’s COVID-19 tally touched 70,756 on Tuesday with 3,600 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, which also saw 87 deaths, according to the Health Ministry.
While 2,293 people have succumbed to the deadly virus so far, the recovery rate has improved to 31 per cent with 22,454 cured/discharged patients.
At present, Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state with total 23,401 cases followed by Gujarat (8,541), Tamil Nadu (8,002), Delhi (7,233), Rajasthan (3,988), Madhya Pradesh (3,785), and Uttar Pradesh (3,573), as per the Ministry data.
Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the pandemic situation with the Chief ministers on Monday (May 12) hinting at the extension of nationwide lockdown beyond May 17, while easing several restrictions.
Meanwhile, Indian Railways has resumed passenger train services on select routes and all the passengers have been asked to install the Aarogya Setu app before travelling.
