Coronavirus: Kerala Reports First Positive Case In India
New Delhi: One person has tested positive for Coronavirus in India, the Centre said on Thursday.
“One positive case of Novel Coronavirus patient, of a student studying in Wuhan University in China, has been reported in Kerala,” the Union Health Minister said in a media statement.
The patient is in isolation in a hospital, said the Press Information Bureau statement, adding that the “patient is stable and is being closely monitored”.
Sources said the patient had recently arrived in Kerala from China.
At least 170 people have died in China in the viral outbreak that has infected 1,700 in the country. Of the 38 new deaths, 37 were reported in hard-hit Hubei province, the epicentre of a contagion that is causing mounting global fear.
