Coronavirus Threat: French National Undergoes 24-Hour Quarantine In Odisha’s Koraput

Koraput: Amid the growing coronavirus threat, a Frenchman was taken to S L N Medical College and Hospital for examination after arriving at Koraput by Hirakhand Express, on Wednesday. Though found to be asymptomatic, the doctors advised him to undergo quarantine in his hotel room for 24 hours since he had arrived in India about 13 days ago.

SLN Superintendent HK Dalai said he was advised a day of self-quarantine as a precautionary measure.

The visitor was reportedly checked twice after landing in New Delhi and given a go ahead for travel by the authorities concerned, the TNIE reported.

He had then travelled to Bhubaneswar and Puri. His arrival in Koraput triggered panic among people at the railway station and they vacated it fearing that he could be infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19)

France has so far reported 9,134 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 246 deaths because of the disease.
