Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, three members of a family were killed in a landslide following heavy downpour triggered by cyclone Arnab at Dangesi village under Raikia block in Odisha’s Kandhamala district.
The deceased have been identified as Achyuta Pradhan, his wife Anisha Pradhan, and their nine-month-old child.
According to information, the three were buried under the debris after a landslide occurred at a nearby hill on Thursday.
Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, who is in charge of Kandhamala district, confirmed the deaths.
Several residents of the village are also feared missing after the landslide. The district administration is monitoring the situation, and rescue efforts are underway to trace those who remain missing.
Expressing grief over the incident, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased.
