Bhubaneswar: A couple died after the car in which they are travelling crashed into a roadside pillar on NH-16 near an overbridge at Nuagada under Balugaon police limits in Odisha’s Khurda district on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Shivram Padhee and his wife of Aska in Ganjam district.

According to sources, the mishap took place around noon when the couple was en route to Berhampur from Bhubaneswar. The front portion of the car was mangled under the impact of collision and firefighters had to use a gas cutter to rescue them. They were then rushed to a hospital at Banapur, where doctors declared them dead.
Balugaon police have seized the vehicle and launched an investigation.
