Bhubaneswar: A masked-up couple recently looted Rs 10,900 from cash counter of a garment shop at Lewis Road under Badagada police limits in Bhubaneswar.
The incident was captured in the CCTV camera at the shop.
According to sources, the couple arrived at the shop on Lewis Road in an old car on Monday afternoon. While the woman engaged the salesman in a conversation showing interest in a purchase, her man accomplice looted money from the cash counter.
The CCTV footage of the shop shows the man walking towards the cash counter while pretending to be talking on his phone. He can then be seen opening the drawer, taking out the cash, putting it in his pocket, and confidently walking out of the shop. The woman also left the shop after him.
“It was lunchtime and we had only one staff at the shop. The couple walked in and the woman asked the salesperson to show a product. Their faces were almost covered. The man was wearing a mask, sunglasses, and a cap while the woman’s face was covered up to 30 per cent. There was Rs 10,900 in the drawer which is now gone,” the owner of garment shop Satyajit Sahu told the media.
“We called the PCR within an hour and I also filed a complaint with police in the evening,” he added.
Based on a written complaint, Badagada police have begun an investigation. They have sought the help of Regional Transport Office (RTO) to trace the vehicle. Preliminary investigation revealed that the car was registered in Bhubaneswar.
