Jajpur: In a tragic mishap, a man and his wife were killed while their four-year old son had a shave after their bike was hit by a vehicle in Panikoili area of Odisha’s Jajpur district on Saturday.
As per preliminary information, the mishap took place near the old toll gate under the jurisdiction of Panikoili police station.
The three were heading proceeding towards Panikoili from Kuakhia on a two-wheeler when the speeding car rammed into their bike and sped away near the old toll gate.
While the woman reportedly died on the spot, the man sustained critical injuries. The man was rushed to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) at Jajpur where he succumbed to injuries. Their son, however, had a close shave and was unhurt.
Police have registered a case and sent the bodies for postmortem. The child is currently in protective custody of the police, while efforts are on to ascertain the identify of the deceased couple, the sources said.
