Mumbai: Days after Shikhar Dhawan entered into a second marriage with Sophie Shine, a Delhi court directed his ex-wife Aesha Mukerji to return Rs 5.72 crore to the cricketer, granting him significant legal relief.
“In a major relief to Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, a Family Court in Delhi on Monday ordered his ex-wife to return approximately Rs 5.72 crores to him after holding that the orders passed by a Family Court in Australia asking him to pay the said amounts to his estranged wife under the concept ‘Property Settlement’ was alien to Indian laws,” stated a report by Live Law.
Family court judge Devender Kumar Garg added that Aesha could not demand Rs16.9 crore from Shikhar as awarded by the Australian court.

Last weekend on February 21, Shikhar exchanged wedding vows with partner Sophie, an Irish professional product consultant, in an intimate ceremony in Delhi.
But before finding love again in Sophie, Shikhar was married to Melbourne-based kickboxer Aesha Mukerji.
However, the marriage didn’t last long and the couple got separated after 9 years of marriage.
In 2023, Shikhar was granted divorce on grounds of ‘mental cruelty’ by Aesha. The couple have a son named Zoravar.
Post divorce, as per a report by IB Times, Aesha allegedly forced Shikhar to transfer his properties to her.
In a conversation with ANI in 2025, Shikhar had revealed that Aesha had blocked him from all virtual communication with his son.
However, he continued to send messages to his son, hoping that he would read them some day.
“It has been two years since I have seen my son, one year since I last spoke to him. It has been difficult, but you learn to live with it. I miss him and speak to him spiritually… I feel through affirmations that I am conversing with him every day, hugging him. I put my energy into it spiritually. It is the only way I can bring back my son,” the cricketer had shared.
