Court Sentences Teacher & Anganwadi Worker To Imprisonment In Forgery Case In Odisha’s Keonjhar

Balasore: A court has sentenced an assistant teacher and an Anganwadi worker to imprisonment in a forgery case in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.

The SDJM Court in Balasore found Nagesh Kumar Mahakud, Asst Teacher of Raghunathswar High School, Keonjhar guilty for issuing transfer certificate by changing the date of birth of Lilabati Mohanta, Anganwadi Worker at Chaka under Sadar police station in Keonjhar district and putting the seal of headmaster of the school.

Odisha Vigilance had filed chargesheets against the two accused in the forgery case in the court.

The court sentenced Mahakud to undergo simple imprisonment for 1 year and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000. In default of payment of fine, he has to undergo further simple imprisonment for 2 months for the offence under Section 468 of IPC.

The court also sentenced Mohanta to simple imprisonment for 1 year and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000. In default of payment of fine, she has to undergo further simple imprisonment for 2 months more for the offence under Section 471 of IPC.

The court further sentenced Mohanta to simple imprisonment for 2 years and imposed fine of Rs 10,000 for the offence under Section 420 of IPC. In default of payment of fine, she has to undergo further simple imprisonment for 2 months. Both the sentences will run concurrently.

Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for dismissal of Mahakud and Mohanta from service.
