COVID-19: 53 Journalists In Mumbai Test Positive, To Be Kept In Isolation

Mumbai: As many as 53 journalists have tested positive for COVID-19 in Mumbai, according to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

BMC had organized a special camp at Azad Maidan on April 16 and 17, when officials collected swab samples of 171 mediapersons, including electronic and print media journalists, photographers and cameramen.

“Of the 171 mediapersons tested, 53 are positive for coronavirus,” BMC spokesperson Vijay Khabale said. Most of those who have tested positive are asymptomatic.

All 53 journalists will be kept in isolation once suitable places are identified, he added.

Efforts are on to trace these journalists’ high and low-risk contacts.

Mumbai had recorded 2,724 coronavirus positive cases and 132 deaths till Sunday.
