As the coronavirus scare has gripped the entire world, with no vaccine or drugs available for its treatment, it’s better to be safe than feel sorry later on.

Besides following the precautionary measures issued by the health department, you can include the below listed food items in your daily diet to boost your immunity for fighting against the virus.

ANTIOXIDANTS

Antioxidants like berries, onions, garlic, ginger, carrots and pumpkins are extremely essential for building our immune system to fight off the virus. These foods also contain Vitamin C, B and E, which help to get rid of infections.

 VITAMIN C

Citrus fruits like guavas, oranges, amla, berries, lime, and green vegetables help in strengthening your immune system.

TURMERIC
Turmeric is rich in anti-inflammatory properties and has an active compound called curcumin, which has multiple benefits for boosting your immune system.

STAR ANISE
Star anise contains shikimic acid, which is the primary ingredient used in antiviral drugs. It has amazing healing properties.

FERMENTED FOODS
Fermented foods such as Sauerkraut, miso, kefir, yoghurt, kimchi, home-made pickles and kanji water encourages the growth of good bacteria in your gut.

LIQUORICE
Liquorice has many antiviral, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties and is very effective in treating many viral infections.

PREBIOTIC FOODS

Prebiotic foods such as flax seeds, chia seeds, apples, oats, barley, potato, bananas, garlic, kiwi promote the growth of good bacteria in the gut and helps build a strong immune system.
