COVID-19: Centre Asks States To Double Number Of Tests By April 14

New Delhi: The Centre has urged the states to significantly increase the number of tests for COVID-19 in the next few days.

A total of 1,44,910 samples were tested across the country till Friday evening. The Union government wants that number to be ramped up to at least 2.5 lakh by April 14.

A report quoted a Haryana official as saying that the Union Health Ministry had intimated the urgency of increased number of testing to all states and Union territories via a video conference with all the health secretaries.

India has reported over 6000 positive coronavirus cases so far, of which 503 have been cured or discharged, while 199 people have lost their lives.
