Berhampur: Ganjam district administration on Tuesday launched door-to-door health screening to contain further spread of COVID-19.
District collector Vijay Amrit Kulange said the main objective of the campaign is to make the public aware about COVID-19 and how to tackle it. The administration has formed teams with each one comprising health workers, Asha and Anganwadi workers to visit every house for the purpose.
The team members would record the number of members in a family and enquire about the migrants and Kumbh Mela pilgrims of the family who have returned home recently.
They would register the names of the family members, age and Covid vaccination. They would also record why the members of the particular age group, if any, have not been administered the vaccine.
They would also check the temperature of every family member and oxygen level for detection of suspected cases which would help the administration decide to keep anybody in home isolation or admit to Covid hospital.
Ganjam had followed this strategy and taken other steps last year to contain the surge in COVID-19 cases and became the role model in efficient management of the pandemic. The district administration has followed the same strategy this year following influx of a large number of migrants from other states to Ganjam.
