Bhubaneswar: In a major boost to fight against COVID-19 in the city, a mobile sample collection van was flagged off on the premises of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday.
The van, which will visit places like bus stands, railway stations, airports and interior areas in the city for sample collection, is expected to make the process a lot faster.
One has to furnish the particulars including mobile phone number, Aadhaar number, address and present health conditions before collection of samples.
Flagging off the van, Director, Municipal Administrator Sangramjit Nayak said, “The mobile testing van will greatly help our senior citizens, differently-abled persons and people having critical health conditions in the collection of swab samples for COVID-19 testing.”
The van, provided by ICICI Bank under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, is specially designed and well-equipped to accommodate two laboratory technicians to collect swab samples.
Among others, Surtah Chandra Mallick, Additional Commissioner; Srimanta Mishra, Deputy Commissioner; Suvendu Mohanty, Deputy Commissioner (Sanitation); Sabyasachi Hota, Deputy Commissioner; Basant Ku Rath, City Health Officer; Debasundar Mohapatra, City Engineer and Pradosh Ranjan Rout, Zonal Head, Odisha and Chhattisgarh, ICICI Bank were present.
