COVID-19: Odisha Chief Secy To Announce Lockdown Extension Today?

Bhubaneswar: The Chief Secretary, Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, is set to make some important announcements on the COVID-19 situation in Odisha on Saturday.

Mohapatra will make the announcements at a press briefing at 4.30 pm.

The Director of National Health Mission (NHM), Shalini Pandit, and the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner, Sanjay Kumar Singh, will also be present at the briefing.

While the details of the announcements are not known, speculation is rife that the Chief Secretary may announce the extension of the two-week lockdown in the state with special focus on the districts where the daily caseloads are around 1000 or more.

Besides, there may be major announcements regarding Bhubaneswar as the city has reported 14,655 new cases in the last 13 days since May 1.
