Sambalpur: With the COVID-19 positive cases in Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC) soaring to 234 on Thursday with 20 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, the administration has started active health surveillance to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
Briefing the media persons, here, district collector Shubham Saxena said the sector officers along with senior supervising officers have been tagged in SMC area to ensure that the intensive surveillance done by about 250 health teams for the health survey, active surveillance, sample collection and contact tracing is going on smoothly.
He said the supervising officials shall visit the SMC area to supervise and monitor the survey work of the sector officials.
The sector officers from the SMC will ensure proper sanitation in their respective areas on daily basis, the functioning of the ward committees, shifting the positive cases to COVID Hospital, the pasting of green stickers in the home quarantine cases, containment houses and any other houses as directed by supervising officers or the Health team.
Besides, the sector officers will ensure proper survey of the ILI, SARI and co-morbid cases conducted by the team of Health officials and availability of gloves, masks and other items for them. They shall submit daily report on the progress regarding active surveillance at 4 pm, the collector added.
