Bhubaneswar: Following detection of several COVID-19 cases, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday declared Sitapur Basti and Trinatha Basti in Nayapalli area of Odisha capital as a containment zone.

“All shops and institutions will remain closed and households in these areas will strictly follow the containment regulations from July 17. The BMC will ensure supply of essential items,” the official notification said.
The civic body has also decided to shut down Unit IV market and markets adjacent to it to check the spread of the virus till further orders, it added.
The Odisha capital saw the highest single-day spike of 90 cases on July 15. Another 60 new cases were detected the following day (July 16). So far, 919 positive cases and 11 deaths due to COVID-19 have been reported from Bhubaneswar.

The Odisha capital will be under complete lockdown from Friday (July 17) 9 pm till midnight of July 31.
