COVID-19 Outcome: Online Coaching Heralds New Age Education System

COVID-19 and the lockdowns that came with it will perhaps change India’s educational system forever. 2020 will be remembered as the year when the country made a marked shift from classroom teaching to online teaching.

The siuation necessitated by the pandemic has given a fillip to online educational platforms, which, till now, were struggling to carve a niche for themselves.

BYJU’S: Developed by Think and Learn Pvt Ltd, it was established by Byju Raveendran in 2011. He founded an educational company with the help of his students offering online video-based learning programmes for different competitive exams. In 2015, they launched their application, which today, has 15 million downloads. The USP of BYJU’S is that they have a video for all the examinations even for school. They have special sections for UPSC, IIT-JEE and Medical studies.

Unacademy: In 2015, Gaurav Munjal, Hemesh Singh and Roman Saini chose to educate people free of cost. With the launch of Unacademy, the trio made preparations like USPC, State PCS, CAT etc. just a click away.  Preparing for these exams is both costly and tough. Company representatives said 70% of their users are from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in India and their network is rapidly increasing. Their app has 10 million downloads. Strategies of toppers and the easy design of lectures is the best thing about their app.

StudyIQ: This YouTube channel is the favorite of many aspirants. It has different sections for UPSC, SSC, Railways, StatePCS etc. The analysis of newspapers like The Hindu and The Indian Express has made it easier for students to prepare from home and paved a way for better understanding. Videos on all current affairs is the USP of the channel. It recently launched an app that has managed to bring 100K downloads. What’s great is everything is for free. There are a group of people behind this idea, which is led by Dr. Gaurav Garg.

Wifistudy: It has about 1.15 crore subscribers. Tough subjects like mathematics, logical reasoning and analytical skills are made easy to understand. They are also different because they produce bilingual content, so a person who is not proficient in English does not face a problem. They also teach English grammar, which is still a problem for many young minds.

RSTV: This channel is managed by the Government of India. It is one of the most trusted destinations for all UPSC, State PCS and other aspirants. The programmes are designed in such a way that all the schemes of the government, national and international issues can be covered in a single stretch.
