New Delhi: India has tested more than 10 lakh people for coronavirus, of whom 39,980 have tested positive.
Those are the figures released on Sunday by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). And they are much better than corresponding figures in western countries which have been hit hard by the Covid-19 global pandemic.
Even Germany, one of the European countries tackling the deadly virus efficiently, had higher number of positive cases (72,522) from 10 lakh tests than India.
The day US crossed 10 lakh tests, Donald Trump’s country recorded 164,620 positive cases.
The corresponding figures for Spain, Turkey and Italy were 200194, 117,589 and 152271, respectively.
Of the near-40k positive cases in India, 10,632 cases have been cured/discharged, as per Health ministry data.
