Kalahandi: In the wake of rising COVID-19 cases, Kalahandi collector Parag Harshad Gavali has asked medical shops and pharmacists to keep a record of phone number and address of customers who buy medicines for fever, cough and cold — symptoms similar to COVID-19.

He asked the officials to get the list from the pharmacies and maintain a directory of all such cases and intimate the same to the officer in charge of the COVID Cell Jayanta Meher.

The notification read, “In view of growing numbers of COVID-19 positive cases in the district and many local cases in the recent past, it is evident that people are not disclosing the COVID like symptoms and go for self medication by taking over the counter drugs and suppressing the symptoms, this increases the chances of spread of the virus to other primary contacts.

“Therefore in view of containing the spread of the COVID-19 and detection of the infected person at early stage, it is hereby ordered that all medical stores/drug stores, medical clinics should keep a record of all the people who visit them and experience symptoms like fever, cough, cold, breathing problems, etc or ask for medicines for the treatment of ILI symptoms and intimate the same to the officer in charge of COVID Cell Jayanta Meher- 8895484056 on daily basis.

The compiled report of the above cases be scrutinized by the CDM & PHO, Kalahandi for detection. prevention and testing for COVID-19.”
