Bhubaneswar: In an appeal to people not to panic regarding rising COVID-19 cases, the Odisha government on Saturday said the infection rate would start climbing down by second week of May.
Speaking to mediapersons, Director of Medical Education and Training (DMET) Dr CBK Mohanty said going by the present trend, the number of daily positive cases will start declining by mid-May.
Stating that the situation in Odisha is better than other states, Dr Mohanty there is no case of the triple mutant variant of the virus has surfaced in the state yet.
Dispelling any fear of scarcity of oxygen, he said the state has surplus amount of medical oxygen in stock for which 250 tonne of medical oxygen has been supplied to other states.
Dr Mohanty also appealed to the people with mild symptoms not to rush to hospitals for admission. Only critical patients will be admitted ICUs, he added.
