COVID-19 Spread: BMC Warns Against Non-Essential Celebration In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday warned hotels, Kalyan Mandaps and guest houses of stern action, if they allow non-essential celebrations without permission.

In a letter to the facilities in the city, BMC commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said it has came to the notice that even after issuance of clear order regarding celebration of non-essential cultural celebrations, many of hotels, Kalyan Mandaps, convention halls and guest houses continue to hold non-essential cultural events. Such events are being organised without the permission of BMC or other competent authorities.

“In view of the prevailing pandemic situation, it is to make very clear that such unauthorised cultural celebrations are undesirable and can be responsible for further spread of the virus,” the commissioner said.

He requested the orgnisers to follow the guidelines without fail and warned that in case of deviation, strict action as per Indian Penal Code, Epidemic Disease Act, Disaster Management Act and Odisha COVID Regulations 2020 will be initiated against them and the owners of the premises.
