Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Byabasayee Mahasangh, the umbrella body of traders’ associations, on Friday decided to close the shops across the state from 2 pm from Monday.
Secretary of the Mahasangh Sudhakar Panda told the media that the decision was taken following an urgent meeting in the wake of alarming rise in COVID-19 cases in the state. The Mahasangh has informed the state government about the decision, he added.
As per the decision, all shops and business establishments will remain closed from 2 pm to 5 am till May 15. They can carry out their business from 5 am to 2 pm.
As per government announcement, the business establishments will remain closed due to the week-end lockdown on Saturday and Sunday.
Earlier, the district administrations of Ganjam, Cuttack and Puri had announced opening of business establishments for limited hours.
