New Delhi: An overnight addition of 52,972 positive cases took India’s COVID-19 tally to 18,03,695 on Monday.
Also, 771 people succumbed to the virus infection in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s death toll to 38,135, the Union Health Ministry informed.
The cumulative recovered cases (11,86,203) though have surpassed active cases by 6,06,846. The fatality rate of cases though dipped a bit to 2.11 per cent and is observed to be falling progressively, according to a Health Ministry release.
Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have reported the highest number of cases. However, infections are rising rapidly in states like Assam and Karnataka. Yet, India’s recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 65.8 percent while the ‘Unlock 3.0’ is underway.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 2,02,02,858 COVID-19 samples have been tested so far, including 3,81,072 on Sunday.
