Bhubaneswar: The BJP on Sunday dubbed the FIR lodged against Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi for COVID-19 guidelines violation as a political vendetta.
In a statement to the media, BJP state general secretary Prithviraj Harichandan said that Aparajit had already issued a clarification on this matter and the veracity of the complaint lodged against her would come to the limelight only after an investigation.
Prior to the statement of Harichandan, the Bhubaneswar MP in a tweet said that she came to know about the complaint lodged against her from news channels.
Expressing surprise, she said the FIR filed against her for violation of COVID-19 norms has come while she was sharing the achievements of Prime Minister Modi with the people by observing social distancing norms and with the mask on her face.

“This appears to be a Govt sponsored FIR in response to the annual report card released by me. As a people’s representative, I will continue to work for the people following COVID-19 norms. The attempt to prevent me from working for the people will not succeed,” she maintained.
According to the FIR, Sarangi had violated the COVID-19 norms during a function near the Market Building and again during the earth-breaking ceremony for a flyover project at Hanspal on the outskirts of the city.
