Bhubaneswar: The number of deaths due to COVID in Odisha dropped below 40 on Thursday with 39 more patients succumbing to the deadly disease.
The state had been reporting over 40 COVID deaths for the past 12 days in a row with the highest-ever single-day spike of 47 on June 12.
According to the Health Department, the fresh fatalities have been reported from 14 districts.
Khurda reported the highest of six deaths, followed by four each from Cuttack, Jharsuguda, Puri, and Sundargarh, three each from Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, and Kalahandi, two each from Boudh and Sonepur, and one each from Bargarh, Dhenkanal, Nabarangpur, and Nuapada.
