COVID Scare, Heavy Rain Trouble For Junior Hockey World Cup In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: After an incident-free week, a COVID positive case was reported at the ongoing FIH Junior Hockey World Cup at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on December 3.

According to sources, one of the staff members engaged by the Odisha government tested positive in RT-PCR test conducted on December 2, despite the championship is being held inside a bio-bubble without spectators and all mediapersons covering the event subjected to RT-PCR tests every 48 hours.

The person, who tested positive for the virus, is a member of the social media team of the Department of Sports and Youth Services and is under home quarantine.

Since the affected person had accessed the media centre at the Kalinga Stadium, journalists covering the event and volunteers have been asked to undergo a COVID test.
