Bhubaneswar: Four days after making use of face masks by people in public places mandatory, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Monday issued a set of guidelines for commercial establishments to prevent spread of COVID-19.

The standard operating procedure (SOP), issued by the BMC for shopping malls, shopping complexes and commercial establishments, has made it mandatory for the management to provide hand sanitiser at the entrance of the buildings. Thermal screening of the customers has also been made compulsory at commercial units.

The BMC has told the commercial establishments to depute adequate staff to ensure that the customers maintain six feet distance while inside the premises. Besides the management has to ensure that its employees and customers wear face masks.

In case of detection of flu-like symptoms of staff and customers, the management has been advised to call 1929 for their test and follow-up medical services.
