COVID Vaccine Claim: Ramdev, Four Others Booked For Cheating
Jaipur: Police have lodged an FIR against yoga guru Baba Ramdev and four others for allegedly endangering lives of common people by claiming to have found a COVID-19 vaccine named Coronil.
The FIR was lodged following a complaint by an advocate, Balbir Jakhar, at a police station here. Jakhar named five persons in his complaint — Ramdev, Patanjali Ayurved CEO Acharya Balkrishna, Balbir Singh Tomar, Anurag Tomar and Anurag Varshney.
Balbir Singh Tomar is the chairman and Anurag Tomar is the director of the Jaipur-based NIMS University while Varshney is a scientist at Patanjali Ayurved.
The complainant further said the accused had neither informed the Rajasthan government nor the Centre about the clinical trials of Coronil.
Confirming the news, Additional DCP of Jaipur (South) Avnish Parashar said, “The five accused were booked under Section 420 (cheating) of the IPC and relevant sections of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.”
