Puri: A rare and captivating natural spectacle has unfolded along the coastline of Puri in Odisha, with thousands of live sea snails crawling across the beaches during the night.
The unusual sight at Blue Flag and Niladri beaches has captivated locals and visitors alike.
According to sources, the snails arrive in large groups under the cover of darkness and blanket sections of the shoreline, before retreating back into the sea within 1 to 2 hours after sunrise and leaving behind only faint trails in the sand.
Local residents have described the sight as both fascinating and surreal, pointing out that they cannot recall seeing sea snails in such huge numbers before. Videos and photographs of the phenomenon have quickly spread across social media, drawing widespread attention to the coastal town.
Source further stated that lifeguards deployed at these beaches are also ensuring that these creatures are not harmed.
According to marine experts, such mass movements of sea snails are extremely rare and may be connected to shifts in tidal patterns, breeding activity, or seasonal ecological changes.
