Bhubaneswar: The new police commissioner of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, Sudhanshu Sarangi, said crime investigation and control in the twin cities will be his top priority.
Sarangi, an IPS officer of 1990 batch, said this to the media after taking charge as the seventh police commissioner from Satyajit Mohanty on Wednesday.
“We are determined to act tough against criminals. The details of criminals and the action taken against them will be closely examined,” he told reporters at the commissionerate police headquarters.
Talking about the 5T principles introduced by the Odisha government, Sarangi said the commissionerate police will strictly adhere to one of the principles, i.e. technology. “It is a matter of pride that Odisha Police remains at the top of the chart in the country in terms of adoption of modern technology in crime investigation. We have to ensure that the people should benefit from the modern technology used by the police,” he said.
He also said the relationship between the police and public has to be congenial. “This will not only enhance the capability of the police in maintaining law and order, but the people too will repose their faith in the law enforcers,” he added.
Sarangi admitted that traffic problems in the twin cities will be a challenge for the commissionerate police.
