Criminals May Target COVID-19 Vaccines, Sell Fake Shots: Interpol

France: The Interpol on Wednesday warned the authorities across the world of possible criminal attack on COVID-19 vaccination campaigns.

According to an AFP report, organised criminal groups may try to take advantage of the ongoing crisis and sell fake vaccine shots to the panic-stricken public.

“As governments are preparing to roll out vaccines, criminal organisations are planning to infiltrate or disrupt supply chains,” warned Juergen Stock, head of the global policing agency based in Lyon, France.

“Criminal networks will also be targeting unsuspecting members of the public via fake websites and false cures, which could pose a significant risk to their health, even their lives,” he added.

Earlier in July, the agency had warned about the proliferation of fake COVID-19 testing kits and other drugs as the world was reeling under the fear of the pandemic.

“It is important to be vigilant, be skeptical and be safe, as offers which appear too good to be true usually are,” said the agency.
